It was during the long winter months that Waldorf High School’s Auction Committee was preparing for “Spring Forward!” our second annual auction and dinner. They solicited goods and services for the Silent and Live Auction and received a heartwarming response from parents, past parents, businesses, friends, alumni, faculty, staff, and students with donations of everything from a dozen farm fresh eggs to a week at a condo in Hawaii, from pet sitting to vintage wine, as well as biodynamic wine, two tickets to a Red Sox game and hand-made scarves. And, much more! We are grateful to everyone who helped solicit, and gave, a wonderful array of auction items.
After dinner in our festive auditorium/gymnasium, our own Chuck Claus, turned auctioneer, set the mood with his special rendition of, “Comedy Tonight" from "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum." Mr. Claus' version was, "Auction Tonight," and he was assisted by seniors Kerby Billy, Jackson Cohen and River Leonard. The seniors in the jazz ensemble also performed during the auction with Aaron Weiss joining the above named seniors.
The purpose of the auction is to gather our community together and have a good time (and that we did), and to raise funds for Waldorf High School’s programs and financial aid. We are pleased to report that we surpassed our fundraising goal and netted over $13,000.
This year we had a Special Appeal to help us with our snow plowing bill which was over twice what we expected. Thanks to our generous community we raised another $4,700 for snow plowing!
THANK YOU to everyone who participated in our auction this year. It was a lively event and we look forward to next year. Mark your calendars: March 24, 2012!
