The Waldorf Academy Awards, our spring auction, provided the opportunity for the Board of Trustees and Faculty to honor some outstanding members of our community for their service, support and dedication to Waldorf High School.

| Teresa and Dan Raizen receive Distinquished Service Award |
Board President Dan DeHainaut and Administrative Director Mara White presented Dan and Teresa Raizen a Distinguished Service Award. Dan and Teresa's daugher, Claire, is a junior this year and their two sons graduated from WHS -- Nat '05 and Ben '09. Teresa was our initial Development Director and served a number of terms as a member of the Board of Trustees. Dan was a full-time math and science teacher at WHS and a member of the Collegium. This year he returned as a guest teacher for the Projective Geometry block for the juniors. He currently serves a member of our Board of Trustees and our Treasurer. Dan and Teresa established the Diversity Fund at Waldorf High School which helps make it possible for students from all backgrounds to attend WHS.

| Gary and Sandra Ruggiero also receive Distinquished Service Award |
Gary and Sandra Ruggiero also received a Distinguished Service Award. Their son, Trevor, graduated in 2004. Gary was the president of the Board of Trustees of the Waldorf School of Lexington when the high school was founded in 1996 and served numerous terms as president of the Board of Trustees of Waldorf High School. He now serves on the Finance Committee. Sandra was a founding faculty member of the high school and Collegium and has taught science and practical arts. Though recently retired, she returns this year to teach Bookbinding and the tenth grade Earth Science block.
Laura Morrissette and George Blaszczynski, andMuffy Young and Dan DeHainaut, alumni parents and longtime supporters, received Honorable Mention.
Laura was the first president of WaldorfHigh School’s Board of Trustees after our incorpration as an independent entity and served a number of terms. George donated innumerable hours in support of our science program and as prom photographer. Their son, Matthew Blaszczynski, graduated from WHS in 2004.
Dan is the current Board president and has served on the Board since the High School incorporation. Dan also developed our sound system in the auditorium and sets it up for every performance and event where it is needed. Muffy continues her support of our school, serving as our nurse/medical consultant. Dan and Muffy's son, Augie DeHainaut, graduated in 2008 and daughter, Sophie DeHainaut, graduated in 2005.
It was a special moment for our school to publicly recognize the exceptional and continuing support of these couples who have played instrumental roles in the development of our school since its founding.
