Senior Seminar
An opportunity to reflect on their education Seniors may elect to meet in a weekly seminar throughout most of the academic year to read about and discuss the basic principles underlying Waldorf education. Students have the opportunity to learn more about the phases of child and human development, and to learn how Waldorf teachers educate a child's developing capacities. Students learn about pedagogical theory and practice and have the opportunity to visit and observe Waldorf early childhood and elementary classrooms.
In addition, students have the opportunity to learn more about the structure of Waldorf schools and Rudolf Steiner's work regarding individual development and social organizations.
An opportunity to think about what's important In this seminar, seniors also have the opportunity to discuss and reflect on life questions brought forward on the initiative of the seminar participants themselves. Every year is different, but many themes stay the same: the responsibilities of relationships (emotional and sexual), marriage and commitments, readiness for parenthood, and balancing work and family needs.
